Magdeburg end of August 2026

Main purposes: A phototour of “Lost Place” JVA Magdeburg with go2know, and an exhibition in Kunstmuseum Magdeburg.

As usual with go2know, this one, set to last six hours, was very well organised. However, the fact that patience is not my Spitzenkompetenz, paired with my lack of orientation and fear of getting lost, caused me to leave after less than an hour (at a moment when, completely by chance I found myself back at the entrance just when I thought I had no idea where I was). It looked like the prisons we see in films. No matter what, I will never live to understand how anybody is able to spend six hours in a place like that, no matter how huge the area is.

I spent the afternoon wandering Stadtpark

And since my hotel is right next to the central station, and I look onto the tracks from my room, I played around a little in the evening:

30 August the zoo and an organ concert in Magdeburg Cathedral

I went to the zoo mainly to see the elephant born on 6 August this year. Magdeburg Zoo is one of those – to me – claustrophobic and unnavigable zoos where you are railroaded around IKEA style. That drives me nuts. But I guess that since Tierpark Berlin is my favourite zoo, a lot of other zoos will seem that way to me :-).

Then back to the centre, a walkabout, a very good organ concert with the Kleinjungs, violin and organ (Schuke), and a walkabout.
