Where is the sense of proportion?

Calling a reporter “Piggy”  and telling her to be quiet during one of this own press briefings is inexcusable, but it is vintage vulgar Trump and typical of his conduct towards the press. And yes, it legitimises misogynist bullying to the point that women the world over, and even here in Berlin, are feeling the consequences increasingly. But that, and paying women to pee on him, which also caused a disproportionate amount of public outrage and media indignation, are hardly the worst things he has ever done. Just ask innocent unsuspecting Americans on the receiving end of ICE’s surveillance and abject violence, or the people of Ukraine, or of Gaza, for a start.

The press should stop turning up at Trump’s press briefings only to be insulted and told a bunch of lies. Make what Zelensky is doing and hoping for the subject – not what is being done to him by Trump. And the same with Europe. The worst punishment to Trump would be to ignore him. He thrives on media attention – good or bad. Without it he would go and cower in a corner, assume the foetal position and call for his mama.
