Disappointingly, In Prenzlau itself, there is very little access to the shores of Unteruckersee.
Bonus tip: A very good ice-cream café: Eiscafé Kolbe, Neustadt, on the northern end of the lake.
My reason for going on that day of all days (scorching hot – 36C) was an organ concert in St Marienkirche, but I had not done my homework properly and found that the big organ is being renovated and therefore the concert would be played on a much smaller organ situated on the floor. Tired and overheated (after about 16.000 steps :-), I therefore decided to skip the concert and return home on an earlier train (RE3 – goes only every two hours). But I look forward to the re-inauguration of the organ in that church some time in 2026.
