Birdwatching walk, with migration as the theme, with Benedikt Jackowsski for Grün Berlin Campus Stadtnatur. As always with Benedikt very interesting and informative.
First, two not very good photos of a Greenfinch/Grünfink/grønirisk, then too many Starling photos, and some Kestrels.

Actually, to be honest, at the time of writing, I am not sure whether some of these are actually the Whinchat/Braunkehlchen. For example, Merlin the app says that this is one:
The Goldfinch/Stieglitz, on the other hand, cannot possible be confused with any other bird. On this morning, large flocks of them were frolicking:
Whenever I see birds feasting on thistles and other wildflowers, I wonder who the heck decided those were weeds that should be replaced by unsustainable cultivated, often in hothouses, flowers and useless, non-native lawns.
The Red-backed Shrike/Neuntöter (except the last one which is a Whinchat/Braunkehlchen. I think)

Crows are clever. I guess that is why they are what ornithologists call “successful”. This one dropped whatever it was it had in its beak from a great height in order to make it burst open.

On this particular afternoon, I did not see many birds, though I did catch a glimpse of the Wheatear/SSteinschmätzer, VIP.
I focused on some of all the other critters that can be found there if one keeps one’s eyes open, and I also started to take photos of some of the people using Tempelhofer Feld recreationally. It is a well-known fact that I don’t like photos with people in them, but I will probably need some for a workshop I am attending next month.
So, first the critters, then the birds, and finally the people.
