7 November Spaziergangsreihe Stadtnatur: Entdeckungsreise zu Lichtenberger Naturdenkmalen, with Volkshochschule.
(Early that morning, I experimented with double exposure with a couple of perhaps funny ideas, but badly executed):
We went to Gutspark and Stadtpark Lichtenberg, neither of which I had been to before. If I had such a thing as a memory, I would now be an expert in identifying the different types of oak trees (but did not photograph any of them).
8 November birdwatching walk at Müggelsee with Volkshochschule
Another pleasant walk with Bernd Steinbrecher – he of the fortnightly walks in Britzer Garten. After a little bit of mist over Müggelsee, we had the most beautiful autumn sunshine and saw quite a few different birds. I saw my first Marsh Tit which could actually also have been a Willow Tit – not quite sure, and a Black-necked Grebe which is apparently an endangered species.
9 November Wintervögel im Grunewald with Ökowerk
This was my first visit to Ökowerk – a very interesting place worth exploring further. Their activities can be found here, and I am definitely planning on attending the one on 14 December.
We saw many different birds. Unfortunately, the light conditions were not particularly good and/or the birds were too far away to be photographed. Below just a Wren, a Goshawk, and a Wood Pigeon.
Despite the mist, the autumn colours were still beautiful. It is actually not that bothersome for me to get to Grunewald, so I must make an effort to go more often (just not so much on weekends: when I left at around 11.00, hordes of families were arriving).
