Evening walk with Frank Wissing from NABU Mitte 18 July.

As usual, an informative and interesting walk with Frank Wissing, who always has a lot to tell us.

We saw hundreds of swifts and swallows, though I did not on this occasion manage any photos. I did get two photos of a Redstart, and one of a Sparrowhawk, in addition to some waterfowl. Oh, and a juvenile pigeon that looked to me like it was in some kind of distress, but obviously not to any of the others. Towards the end of the walk, we were serenaded by a blackbird.

Two days later, I went back to try to get a photo or two of activities around a swifts nest we had been shown. Without a tripod (wich I hate using), it is difficult to get good photos of them. Scroll down, and find that the shadows are probably the most interesting feature :-).

As mentioned above, I went back to one of the swifts’ nests we had been shown, in order to try to get some photos. Not easy – I might even persuade myself to dig out my tripod next time ….
